Democratic lawmakers have introduced a bill aimed at prohibiting members of Congress, the President, and their immediate families from owning or trading cryptocurrencies. The legislation, spearheaded by Representative Ro Khanna, seeks to mitigate potential conflicts of interest posed by the volatile and pseudonymous nature of digital assets.

"This isn't a tech issue. This is a corruption issue," Khanna stated during an MSNBC interview. The proposal extends to banning the creation of digital tokens, reflecting growing concerns that crypto holdings could unduly influence policy decisions.

The MOVE comes as regulatory scrutiny of cryptocurrencies intensifies globally. While the bill focuses on ethical governance rather than market implications, its introduction signals heightened political attention toward digital asset regulation in the United States.
